Discovery Coast Accommodation

The Discovery Coast on Queensland's east coast contains several towns with excellent holiday accommodation and is one of the most beautiful coastal districts in the country. Featuring numerous bays and inlets, golden beaches, wonderful surfing, diving and fishing and with regular access to the Capricorn section of the Great Barrier Reef, it is a fantastic place for a holiday. The Discovery Coast stretches north from the coastal city of Bundaberg, through the towns of Agnes Water and 1770 and on to the Capricorn Coast and its towns of Emu Park and Yeppoon.

Bundaberg and its coastal suburb of Bargara are popular tourist destinations. The Bundaberg Rum distillery is a great attraction and the beachfront apartment accommodation in the resorts at Bargara are very popular places to stay. The region has some excellent beaches, golf courses, turtle rookeries and access to magical places on the Great Barrier Reef through both Lady Musgrave Island and Lady Elliot Island. As you travel north you come to the twin townships of Agnes water and 1770. These both have beautiful accommodation in modern resorts as well as backpacker accommodation, holiday home accommodation, motel accommodation and accommodation in caravan park style cabins. From 1770 tourists have access to the Eurimbula National Park and tours to the historic and fully renovated Bustard Head Lighthouse.

The Capricorn Coast at the northern end of the Discovery Coast is also a popular place for tourists to stay with excellent resorts, apartments and hotels. Places like Yeppoon have lots to choose from. Offshore you will find places like Great Keppel Island has a range of accommodation to choose from and Heron Island is right on the Great Barrier Reef and is the ideal place for divers to find accommodation where you can walk in off the beach, just outside your cabin, and start snorkeling or diving on the magnificent coral formations.
